Newcastle Writers Festival is delighted to announce a special spring program with an exciting lineup of Australian and international writers. Four events will be held throughout September and October, and include award-winning writer and playwright Suzie Miller, and beloved British author and Booker Prize nominee Andrew O’Hagan. Our next free Read the Room event will be held at LOLAS on Darby on 12 September, and we have another reading party planned for October. Stay tuned! The festival will also be holding a special event to announce the winner of the $5000 Fresh Ink Emerging Writers Prize, which is in its sixth year.

Suzie Miller is an award-winning playwright, screenwriter and novelist. Based between London and Sydney, she practised human rights law before writing full time. Her smash hit one-woman play Prima Facie became her first novel, and Inter Alia is her second novel.
Andrew O’Hagan has three times been nominated for the Booker Prize and is a winner of the E.M. Forster Prize. His novel Mayflies was adapted by the BBC and his latest, Caledonian Road, a state-of-the-nation epic, was a Sunday Times bestseller. He is Editor at Large of the London Review of Books.
Rosemarie Milsom is the founding director of the Newcastle Writers Festival and the current director of Adelaide Writers Week.
