“Having navigated the worst of Covid, Newcastle Writers Festival is continuing to deal with its impact. Our audience has not yet returned to pre-Covid numbers and we are seeking your support so that we can continue bringing together Australia’s most respected and loved writers and the Hunter’s avid readers.”
Director, Rosemarie Milsom

We need your help.
COVID has severely disrupted Australia’s arts and cultural scene, and the Newcastle Writers Festival has made the difficult decision to cancel our main program two years in a row. We are celebrating our 10th anniversary in 2022 and we need your support to make it our biggest year yet.
Why donate?
The fallout from the pandemic has been profound and the festival remains in a precarious position. Like so many organisations, we have had to make some tough decisions. Please consider making a small donation to ensure we can once again gather as a community to celebrate books and ideas in 2024.
Where your money goes.
Donations to the Newcastle Writers Festival will help us to:
• Continue to attract world-class writers to Newcastle for the 2024 program and beyond
• Engage and promote Hunter-based writers and nurture emerging local writers
• Expand Story Hunter, our unique creative writing program for Hunter primary school students
• Remain accessible and affordable to an engaged and diverse audience through our many wonderful free events.
Thank you for your support.
