Volunteer Registration 2017

The 2017 Newcastle Writers Festival will be held over three days from 7-9 April. We need volunteers to work in assisting the public, escorting authors to and from sessions, and managing the flow of festival-goers. The festival has fostered a fantastic team of people who generously offer their time. The festival could not happen without you.

Volunteers are provided with a free NWF T-shirt. The roster is divided into two half-day shifts each day, and volunteers are entitled to free attendance at standard sessions before or after their shift. We also have a celebratory event after the festival, which is open to all volunteers. Volunteers are coordinated by NWF committee member Sheree Kable.

It is compulsory for new volunteers to attend one training session during March, and we’re asking people who haven’t volunteered since 2014 to come along to training, too. Returning volunteers from 2015 and 2016 don’t have to attend training this year, but are welcome.

Dates and times for training sessions:

  • 10 am Saturday 11 March
  • 6:30 pm Thursday 16 March
  • 6:30 pm Tuesday 21 March*

Training sessions will be held at the NWF office: Suite 52, Level 1, 164 Hunter Street, Newcastle.
The entry is on Market Street (a few doors up from Three Bears Kitchen).

If you wish to volunteer for 2017, please register by filling out this webform. All of your personal data will be kept strictly confidential. Please note that for OHSA and insurance reasons, volunteers must be at least 18 years old.**

Registration will close at midnight on Sunday 19 March 2017. For more information, please email Sheree Kable at volunteers@newcastlewritersfestival.org.au.

*   Rescheduled from 28th March
** Those aged 16 & 17 years may register if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian volunteer and are rostered together.
