Newcastle Writers Festival is seeking an organised, people-focused Volunteer Coordinator to join our small, passionate team on a fixed-term contract. This role is essential to the successful delivery of the 2026 festival, overseeing the recruitment, training, scheduling, and onsite support of our wonderful team of 150 volunteers. You will work closely with the Festival Director and Festival Producer.
It is a varied and rewarding position ideal for someone who thrives in a small team environment. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, composed under pressure, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Newcastle Writers Festival maintains meaningful relationships with varied stakeholders and the Volunteer Coordinator must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
This is a Newcastle-based position, and the successful applicant will need to be set up to work from home.
Please note that this role is essential to the presentation of the 2026 festival and therefore leave blackout periods apply from 1 December 2025 until 13 April 2026. There is paid leave between Christmas and New Year.
