Chris Mansell’s experimental 101 Quads came out this year with Puncher & Wattmann/Thorny Devil Press as the first in their visual poetics series. The book, and visual works based on it, were shown in her exhibition (Words Becoming) at WordXImage gallery in June. The other book, a more narrative work, published this year was Foxline (Flying Islands Press). This book was prompted by seeing 200 dead foxes strung up by their ankles on a fence line just out of Castlemaine, Victoria. Here the two main characters deal with their sense of displacement and their connection with each other and the land, sometimes in dialogue, sometimes in their own singular voices.
