The 2018 Newcastle Writers Festival/ joanne burns Microlit Award is open. Co-presented by Spineless Wonders Short Australian Stories, the award is seeking writing across any genre of up to 200 words that responds imaginatively to the theme ‘sound’. This year’s judge is Cassandra Atherton. There are national and Hunter region categories. Finalists in the award will be offered publication, alongside invited contributors, in the Spineless Wonders Short Australian Stories anthology, Shuffle,which will be launched at the 2019 festival. First prize in each category is $300.
