BottomKate Senior is an anthropologist, with an interest in place, memory, memorials, and archives. She is also a (very new) resident of Stockton and has loved exploring its history and monuments. Kate’s recent paper, co-authored with Duncan McDuie-Ra, is entitled Vibrant Memory Scapes: encountering memorials on unstable ground. It explores Stockton’s memorials; whether they be sanctioned memorials, DIY memorials, or unintentional memorials caused by a constantly shifting landscape. Kate is a professor at the University of Newcastle.
Newcastle Writers Festival would like to acknowledge the Awabakal and Worimi peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which the festival takes place, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and extend this respect to all First Nations people attending our festival.
