BottomKaren Eastwood is a writer and educator. She is a facilitator of NWF’s Story Hunter creative writing outreach program but can also be spotted working at both the Newcastle library and the Museum.
Karen has worked as a storyteller with her own Story Spot business and on the Newcastle Library’s early literacy programs as well as the annual Book Week Show. She has hosted Newcastle library author talks with Meg Mason, Kelli Hawkins, Sarah Bailey and Christine Sykes as well as the library’s podcast, ‘Chats With Fabulous Children’s Authors and Illustrators’. Karen has facilitated storytelling and creative writing programs for all ages. Her mission is to help people have fun building connections through the sharing of stories.
Her award winning short plays have featured in both Newcastle’s Short and Sweet and Microtheatre Festivals.
While working at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra she met Vietnam Veteran Allen May and wrote his memoir The Luck of The Draw, The Story of Allen May, Forward Scout, Battle of Long Tan, 18th August 1966.
Karen is editing her latest work, a ‘coming of age in middle age’ novel set in both 90s London and contemporary Newcastle.
