BottomJames Colley is a writer from Western Sydney and author of new romantic comedy The Next Big Thing from Pantera Press, that tracks the relationship of two best friends trying to construct the next of Australia’s iconic Big Things to save their small town.
James has an extensive history as the head writer of Gruen, Question Everything, The Weekly with Charlie Pickering and The 1% Club. He co-wrote an episode of ABC TV’s Summer Love series and was a writer on The Mole (US).
His columns regularly appear in the Sydney Morning Herald and the Guardian, as well as appearances The Big Issue, and Frankie among many others. He’s appeared at the Vivid Festival, Splendour in the Grass and the Festival of Dangerous Ideas among others.
Other than that, he can mostly be found talking too loudly about some sport or another.
Newcastle Writers Festival would like to acknowledge the Awabakal and Worimi peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which the festival takes place, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and extend this respect to all First Nations people attending our festival.
