Newcastle Writers Festival is seeking two flexible, passionate people with a background in education and/or creative writing to support the delivery of our Story Hunter program. The Story Hunter Guide facilitates engaging, student-centred workshops for students in grades 3 to 8 in schools, community venues, or other agreed locations. Guides deliver established Story Hunter programs and contribute to the development or refinement of new program content in collaboration with the Story Hunter Coordinator. This is a contractor role with irregular hours, predominantly during school terms, and will involve travel within the broader Hunter region.
This is a varied and rewarding opportunity ideal for someone who thrives in a small team environment. The ideal candidates will be adaptable, composed under pressure, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
This is a Hunter-based position, with travel required across the region. Story Hunter Guides must hold a Working With Children Check for paid employment as well as a driver’s license and access to their own vehicle.
The deadline for applications is 5pm AEST 18 May. Interviews will be held in Newcastle on 27 May. For a detailed position description, please contact Story Hunter Coordinator Emma Carpenter storyhunter(at)newcastlewritersfestival.org.au
Emma is also happy to respond to any questions.
