A returned Novocastrian, Scott Bevan is the author of six books. His most recent, The Lake: Exploring a Splendid Sheet of Water, is a journey in words and stories around Lake Macquarie. His new play, The Rest is Silence, will be given its premiere season by Newcastle Theatre Company in October. As well as kayaking and writing, Scott enjoys supporting his local economy by drinking Hunter reds – but usually not simultaneously.

Newcastle Writers Festival would like to acknowledge the Awabakal and Worimi peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which the festival takes place, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and extend this respect to all First Nations people attending our festival.
