Biography
Saba Vasefi is an award-winning artist, filmmaker and poet. She is a PhD researcher on exilic feminist cinema studies and is an associate lecturer at Macquarie University. She writes for Guardian Australia about women and children’s issues in the Nauru detention centre. Her poems have appeared in a variety of journals including Transnational Literature and Wasafiri Magazine of International Contemporary Writing. She is the recipient of the Premier’s Multicultural Medal for Art and Culture, an Edna Ryan Award for making a significant contribution to feminist debate.
