Flash Fiction Masterclass for Primary Students

What makes for a great short story? In this intensive masterclass, students will be introduced to the various elements of characterisation, plot development and editing their work. Designed to extend gifted & talented writers in Stage 3 (years 5&6), students are guided to write their own “flash fiction” with original characters, interesting narratives, and compelling endings. Led by the professional writers in the Story Hunter team, this workshop uses drama and play to promote creative ideation and joy in writing.

Students are required to be accompanied by a teacher (no charge for teachers) and supervised during breaks. Tickets are currently capped at 12 per school to ensure more schools have the opportunity to attend, however, additional students may be added to the waiting list on request – please contact Emma at storyhunter@newcastlewritersfestival.org.au for more information.
