BottomRuth Boydell left her Sydney home with a friend looking for adventure at the end of high school. They drove to Cairns, where Ruth continued her journey by sailboat. Ruth took to sailing and became captain of her own sailboat several years later, sailing from Australia to the Americas.
Ruth came back to Australia, started a magazine for women sailors, began teaching sailing and navigation and moved to Newcastle where she taught in TAFE for 25 years.
More recently Ruth has moved into the world of End of Life doulas. She has written a memoir of her sailing, Rocking the Boat.
