

Lucy Nelson is a writer of fiction and non-fiction. In 2022, she received the Writing NSW residential Varuna Fellowship and was shortlisted for the Newcastle Writers Festival emerging writers prize, Fresh Ink. She is the 2021 winner of the Newcastle Short Story Award and former recipient of the Templeberg Fellowship (Writers Victoria). Her short fiction has also been recognised internationally by the Sean O'Faolain Fiction Prize, UK (shortlist) and the International Desperate Literature Prize (longlist). She is a former regular contributor to The Big Issue and The Canberra Times. Lucy recently received a grant to complete a collection of short fiction exploring themes of childlessness.
