BottomGrace Turner grew up in the small lakeside town of Wangi Wangi, on the east coast of Australia with her mother, an abstract painter, her father a poet and two older brothers. Her introduction to music was an early obsession with The Beatles, Frente and an ambition to write an album for the Backstreet Boys to help them reform.
Turner’s first official offering to the world was the laid back but crushing song, Angry, that she wrote while soul-searching in France. Turner was processing the loss of her mother in her early twenties and this period sparked a prolific writing phase, the fruits of which are now coming into the public sphere.
In 2018, Grace released two singles, the first was her breakout song, Dead or Alive, which has received over 950,000 plays across streaming services. She followed with the daring Easy I Fall. Both songs garnered insightful reviews and set her apart as a songwriter, vocalist and began to consolidate her folk-gone-indie rock sound. Rotation on Triple J and support from community radio across the country has earned Turner a steadily growing fan base.
In 2019 Turner featured at SXSW festival in the USA and performed at festivals such as Grow Your Own, Festival of The Sun and Groovin’ The Moo. She supported artists such as Lucy Dacus (USA), Ali Barter, Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon), Mark Lanegan (Queens of the Stone Age), City Calm Down and Kingswood, was Feature Artist on Triple J Unearthed, and received the Women In Music Mentorship scholarship with pop artist Megan Washington.
Grace Turner’s single Half Light marked the singer-songwriter’s first release of 2020 and was described as “a compelling mantra” by Triple J’s Richard Kingsmill. This was followed with the release of her much anticipated EP ‘Half Truths’.
After a reflective hiatus, Turner has recently released a new single in 2025, Don’t Hold On. This new sound steers away from her predominantly guitar based songs and deepens her captivating sound.
