Patrick West is a senior lecturer in Writing and Literature in the School of Communication and Creative Arts, Deakin University, Melbourne Campus, where he also coordinates the school’s Higher Degree Research portfolio. He lives in the Melbourne suburb of Camberwell with his partner, their two children, and a rabbit named Rabbit Downey Jnr. Patrick has a PhD from The University of Melbourne on the feminist psychoanalysis of Julia Kristeva and is a widely published creative writer, primarily in the short story form. His current major research interest is in the relationships of architecture and writing. Alongside this, he continues to write in the short-story form, everything from microfiction to short stories just barely short enough not to be mistaken for novellas. Sometimes he writes poetry and screenplays, too. Patrick has spent most of his life in Australia but has also worked and travelled for extended periods in Europe and China.
