Linda Jaivin

Biography

Linda Jaivin is the author of seven novels, including the internationally best-selling comic-erotic Eat Me, as well as The Infernal Optimist, which is a dark comedy set in an immigration detention centre (shortlisted for the Australian Literature Society Gold Medal in 2007) and the China novels, The Empress Lover and A Most Immoral Woman. She has also written four works of non-fiction including the 2014 travel companion Beijing and the Quarterly Essay Found in Translation. She is a cultural commentator, reviewer, essayist and travel writer who has contributed to a range of publications including The Monthly, the Spirit of Australia (the Qantas inflight magazine), The Saturday Paper and Australian Art Collector. She is also literary translator from Chinese with a specialty in film subtitles, and in 2016, made her first radio documentary, the three-part Nothing to Hide, for Radio National’s Earshot program.  www.lindajaivin.com
