Karen Crofts is director of Hunter Writers Centre where she teaches creative writing and nurtures writing culture in Newcastle and the Hunter region. She graduated with a Masters degree in Creative Writing from the University of Newcastle in 2009. She has written a fiction short story collection around the theme of food but now concentrates on writing memoir. Karen won the Sydney Writers Centre/Parenting Express memoir competition and was shortlisted in the Australian Country Life Magazine Competition and has published other memoir pieces in various anthologies. Her play was one of the finalists in Newcastle’s Short and Sweet Play Festival. She is currently writing a book about memory loss.
