Gaye Sheather is an historian and researcher working in private practice. She is the author of Rock This City, her first book, which was reworked from a PhD thesis completed through the University of Newcastle. In it, she explores the origins, development and demise of the live popular rock music scene in Newcastle in the 1970s and ‘80s. This had led to a collaboration with the Newcastle Museum for a ‘pub rock’ exhibition at the end of 2017. Gaye is currently researching resilience in the women in her own family’s history and considering collecting stories for Rock This City 2.
