Alistair Rolls

Biography

Alistair Rolls teaches French at the University of Newcastle. His research interests include French crime fiction, and both crime fiction and twentieth-century French literature more broadly. The theoretical lenses that he brings to texts include poststructuralism and deconstruction, existentialism, intertextuality and Freudian fetishism. In the area of crime fiction, he has published the following monographs: French and American Noir: Dark Crossings (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009), written with Deborah Walker; Paris and the Fetish: Primal Crime Scenes (Rodopi, 2014); and Origins and Legacies of Marcel Duhamel’s Série Noire (Brill, 2018), with Marie-Laure Vuaille-Barcan and Clara Sitbon
